INTRODUCTION:
I have anxiety. It has affected me for the better part of my life without even realizing it. After moving to a different state and becoming a full time musician, stress started to get the best of me. I felt very discouraged about pursuing my music, and I was losing sight of all the stuff worth fighting for. When I started to doubt something that I’ve wanted for as long as I can remember, it was a wake up call. I made A LOT of changes in my life. Today, anxiety and depression no longer control my life, and I couldn’t be happier or more proud of myself. Turn This Around is about being down, but picking myself up again. To anyone else who has suffered or felt the same way I have, don’t EVER give up. Life is a beautiful thing, even if you can’t always see it.
LYRICS:
Verse 1: I lost my voice trying to sing too loud.
I lost my way trying to fight through the crowd.
Now I’m too far, too far gone.
I’ve gone too far, too far alone… And I say,
CHORUS: Can I turn this around?
How can I turn this around?
Gotta find the light I lost on the way,
Remember why I fight in the first place.
‘Cause I, I’ve gotta turn this around.
Verse 2: I lost my will after so many years.
I lost my fight after facing these fears.
But I’m too strong, too strong to let go.
Been singing too long, too long to stop now. So I say,
CHORUS: Can I turn this around?
How can I turn this around?
Gotta find the light I lost on the way,
Remember why I fight in the first place.
‘Cause I, I’ve gotta turn this around.
Bridge: I’ve been dying but I’m on fire.
I’ve been burn down to the ground.
I’ve been lost but I am found.
I’ve gone too far now.
And I, I’m gonna turn this around.
So I say,
CHORUS: Can I turn this around?
How can I turn this around?
I’ve been feeling lost for so long,
Holding my breath, hoping I’m found.
But I, I’ve gotta turn this around.
LYRIC ANALYSIS:
I lost my voice trying to sing too loud. - Literally. This was when I was feeling overwhelmed by needing to busk 2-3 times a day just to pay my bills.
I lost my way trying to fight through the crowd.
Now I’m too far, too far gone.
I’ve gone too far, too far alone… And I say, - I wanted the verse to have a darker, more minor feel, and then have the chorus be more hopeful. "And I say" is the switch.
Can I turn this around?
How can I turn this around?
Gotta find the light I lost on the way,
Remember why I fight in the first place. - I lost sight of my happiness and why I loved music (and life) to begin with.

I lost my fight after facing these fears.
But I’m too strong, too strong to let go. - But I will NEVER give up.
Been singing too long, too long to stop now. So I say,
Can I turn this around?
How can I turn this around?

‘Cause I, I’ve gotta turn this around.

So I say,
Can I turn this around?
How can I turn this around?
I’ve been feeling lost for so long,
Holding my breath, hoping I’m found. - I had crippling anxiety, yet I had no idea what I was waiting for that would magically make it better. So I took it upon myself.
